An eSIM is a digital mobile profile installed on a compatible phone, tablet or wearable. Instead of removing your usual SIM card, you add the travel plan through the device settings—often by scanning a QR code or using the provider’s app.
This can be especially useful when travelling. You can keep your primary number available for messages while using the eSIM for mobile data, subject to your device’s dual-SIM capabilities and home-carrier settings. It also lets you arrange connectivity before arrival rather than searching for a shop at the airport.
Choose a plan based on destination, trip length and expected data use. Navigation and messaging use relatively little data, while video calls, streaming, cloud backups and hotspot use can consume allowances quickly. Some plans cover one country; regional plans may work across several destinations.
The booking is completed with the eSIM provider offering the plan. Read the validity period, activation rule, supported networks and refund terms before payment. Some plans begin when installed, while others begin only when the eSIM first connects to an eligible network.
Install the profile while you have reliable Wi-Fi and save the instructions offline. Avoid deleting an eSIM unless the provider confirms it can be reinstalled. After arrival, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line if the instructions require it.

Can I keep my normal phone number?

Can I reinstall a deleted eSIM?
